WHS sends 3 wrestlers Downtown for the State Finals!

For the first time in school history, WHS Wrestling will be sending 3 wrestlers to Conseco Fieldhouse for the IHSAA State Finals!  Brady White (4th place at 140), Lukas Schaeffer (2nd place at 189) and Tyler Melby (2nd place at 285) all qualified for state this past weekend by placing in the top 4 at the New Castle Semi State.  All 3 wrestled very well all day long.  WHS has sent two state qualifiers to the state finals in 1995 (Case Bevins and Andy Tolan) and 2007 (Steven Lange and Craig Smith), but this will be the first time that 3 Shamrocks will be in "The Show".

Freshmen AJ Belden, Dillon Eldred, and juniors, Lucas Rooney, and Taylor DeLong, all represented WHS very well Saturday, but lost preliminary round matches and were unable to advance.  Senior, Parker Bankert also wrestled in his last match for WHS, dropping a heartbreaking prelim round match to an opponent from Beech Grove.  We are all very proud of the fine career Parker had at WHS!

We hope to see everyone downtown on Friday night.  It is a special night, with the "Parade of Champions" starting at approximately 5:30.  A very emotional moment for our 3 wrestlers as they will be part of that parade.  Don't miss it!
